The brief

Content agency Skyword approached me to work on a project for one of their clients, beauty brand Neutrogena, with a specific request: to convert a set of illustrative infographics into HTML for use on their blog. The goal was to make the infographics more accessible and user-friendly for their online audience, as well as to improve the overall search engine optimisation (SEO) of the blog posts. The brief included specific technical requirements, such as responsive design and cross-browser compatibility, as well as considerations for maintaining the visual appeal and branding of the original graphic. With these parameters in mind, I set out to create dynamic, fast-loading HTML versions of the infographics that would help Neutrogena engage and inform their readers in a meaningful way.

Collaborators

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Ashley Freeland, a talented designer who hails from Boston but now calls the UK her home. Ashley and I shared a co-working space, and despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we had a lot of fun working together on this project. Ashley’s playful design style was evident in the illustrative infographics she created for Neutrogena, and it was a joy to bring her vision to life in HTML format.

Technical details

I used Pug and Sass for this project. Pug is a powerful tool for creating dynamic websites quickly and efficiently. It’s a type of language that helps create templates for web pages, which can be used to display different types of content. One of the great advantages of Pug is that it doesn’t rely on a database, which makes it incredibly fast.
